The Heighth Defense Echelon Compensator manages gas instead of just venting it. Gas expands into a single large blast chamber, then meets an angled internal face that redirects the flow to counter muzzle rise and reduce recoil.

Independent Ransom Rest testing against a stock Echelon measured 26.4% to 34.7% less recoil across 115, 124 and 147 grain 9mm, on both 4.0" and 4.5" barrels. Velocity increased in every test.
